Work Experience: University Teacher and Administrator-

 

 I have been involved in university teaching, research and administration. Since 1983, I have successfully supervised 35 PhDs, 45 MAs, and a host of first-degree theses and dissertations. I served as the Head of Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy, University of Calabar Nigeria, 1992-96, Sub Dean, Exams Officer, Faculty Rep on Council, Affiliation of Institutions,  and as Visiting Professor to the Lutheran Theological University College, Makumira Tanzania, an affiliate of the University of Erlangen Germany. I was the Director/Dean for the Centre for Church Education and Management at the Westhill College of Higher Education, Birmingham. It was my privilege to develop new courses in the above institutions. I have both carried out and supervised extensive research projects in Religious Studies and  International Development and have enjoyed field trips to many countries.  I have chaired Faculty and Departmental Boards, responsible for Staff Assessment and Promotion, and have served as Consultant to British government agencies on Human Resources and Material Management, Race Relations as well as on Policy Formulation and Implementation. Currently, Govt Adviser on International Students Admissions and Welfare, in UK as well as Special Consultant on Funding and Fund Raising in UK Institutions

 

In addition to all these, I have been deeply involved in Christian Ministry among students and staff in institutions of Higher Learning through the SU, CU, IFES, and SCM and have served on several occasions as patron, chaplain, Bible Study Consultant, Member of the Executive, etc to some of the Campus Groups in many universities and colleges. I worked for CMS and Crosslinks in Mission Education, Overseas Mission Placement, setting up Mission programmes for Mission Partners overseas. For years I have worked as consultant to Mission Agencies in the areas of mentoring International Students for Cross-Cultural Mission Engagement. I have been involved in EFAC-Evangelical Fellowship in Anglican Communion and worked with many Diocesan and Provincial Mission Teams for the World Church. Taught Mission Studies in the School of Mission and World Christianity, Selly Oak Colleges.  Member of the Partnership in World Mission Committee (PIWM) in the Dioceses of Birmingham, Coventry, Worcester, Lichfield, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Blackburn, Newcastle and Hereford, 2000- 2005.  I am still a member of the Professors of World Mission Academy. I advise UK Govt/Institutions on International Development/Linking with 3rd World Institutions. I already got a Link with Owerri/ Runcorn, Calabar/ Portsmouth UK

·        Her Majesty’s Special Chaplain on Inter-religious Dialogue and Peace

·        Mental Health Services.

·        I am involved in many Charities and Church Missions to people on the margin of society.

·        I am a member of Carers Group, Member of Steering Committee of Educational Project at the Vine Trust, YWCA, Walsall. 

·        I am involved in Urban Mission to Ethnic and Minority people in the Midlands and a member of the Association for the Black Clergy UK.

·        I am a school governor in Halton Lodge Cheshire.

·        In September 2000, I was appointed a member of Vatican/WCC Joint Standing Committee studying the Contributions of Africa and its peoples to the Development of Christianity and Mission. 

·        I chair its West African Sub regional Unit of British Council Aids Committee.

·        I am a consultant to The Word For Life Trust UK in its International Outreach and co-ordinate it’s Africa Mission Outreach.

 

          Through these overseas opportunities, I have donated Ł50,000 worth of Science Equipment from University of Oxford, Computers from University of Birmingham to schools in Imo State,

Helped to admit over 200 Imo Students to the Unical between 1986- 1996 , offered free accommodation in my house to many of them.

Helped to sponsor over 20 Imo Students to gain admission and Scholarship to universities overseas.
